Dr Marija Pezer (born Maćešić) obtained a BSc degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Zagreb in 2003, and a PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the same university in 2013. From 2003 she worked for two years as a Researcher – Molecular Biologist at PLIVA Research Institute, Croatia developing and testing new molecules targeted against non-infectious inflammatory diseases and establishing a new Transgenics Lab. From 2008 she worked for six years as Junior and later Senior Research Assistant at Children’s Hospital Srebrnjak, Croatia, investigating basic mechanisms of development and progression of allergic diseases. As part of her doctoral training, she spent three months at the University of Manchester, UK (EAACI&GA2LEN Short-Term Exchange Research Fellowship, 2009), and a year at the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research, Davos, Switzerland (EAACI&GA2LEN Long-Term Exchange Research Fellowship, 2012). Since 2014 she is employed at Genos, Croatia as a Researcher, working on the role of immunoglobulin G glycosylation patterns in the immune response.
